Kay Bojesen has created this beautiful wooden monkey figurine, bringing a contemporary and yet traditional finish to any nursery or playroom. It was first produced in 1951, it remains a classic and is iconic even today, it is made by Danish brand Rosendahl in collaboration with the Bojesen family to ensure the exact details and dimensions remain the same to this day.
Originally Bojesen was a silversmith as an apprentice with jewellery designer Georg Jensen he soon changed his thought on design and became inspired by wood and that a product should feel round and soft to touch hence the inspiration for the amazing details in his animal figures.
Made from Teak and Limba, the lighter wood exentuates the face, hands, feet and belly. Comes in a beautiful Rosendahl gift box. His long arms and legs rotate so he can be displayed from a variety of positions the cheeky monkey can even hang off a ledge with his cupped hands or feet that act as hooks.
This wooden figurine is well loved by both adults and children,. Matching items are also available to buy by Kay Bojesen figures including dogs and other jungle animals such as bears, hippos. Simple but elegant, it is a must and a great example of mid century design at its very best and totally timeless.
