Before buying contemporary dining chairs for an existing dining table it is best to measure up. As a rule, on a rectangular table, one seat should allow 60cm of room, so for a table 200cm long you would be able to fit 3 either side, with the option of a person at each end, therefore it would sit a total of 8 people. On a round dining table it should be about 75cm. This ensures each guest has plenty of room.

Things to consider are comfort and functionality, if the chairs are used every day or if only used on special occasions, go for something stylish over practical to give your dining area the wow factor. It is always best to spend that bit extra for a quality piece that will last and ware longer.

If your interior is bold, its probably best to go for a simple and plain dining chair that won’t fight with other patterns in the room. If you have a neutral colour scheme, go for something bright and bold, or even have a mixed range of chairs to give your room character a quirky feel.
