Fukasawa was born in 1956 in the Yamanashi Prefecture in Japan. He graduated from Tama Arts University in Art and 3D Design in 1980. After some years heading American company IDEO’s Tokyo office, Fakasawa went in 1989 to work in San Francisco for IDtwo. Read more.
Fukasawa has worked in collaboration with a host of Italian design houses including, Magis, Driade, Vitra, Artemide and others. His innovative domestic designs have earned him over fifty awards.
In 2003 Fukasawa established plusminuszero (+0), designing pioneering electrical appliances and sundries. He is Professor of Design at Musoshino Art University and Director of 21 21 DESIGN SIGHT, Japan’s first design museum. Close.
