It was the remarkable meeting between a young Scandinavian designer/entrepreneur and a impeccably dressed Englishman - both of them travelling through Australia - that ultimately led to the creation of the world’s fastest growing watch-making company.
The Englishman was the owner of an expensive Swiss watch which he’d customised with a somewhat weathered NATO-style strap made of braided fabric developed by the Royal Navy for use by deep sea divers. The Scandinavian recognised a unique and beautifully simple idea and set to work on a slimmer, more affordable version of the watch. His name was Filip Tysander.
The name of the Englishman was Daniel Wellington. The watches that bear his name are quietly sophisticated, dapper and timelessly elegant. This example has gold baton hour markers and cream dials on a pure white face. The strap is of brown leather with a buckle fastening - but all Daniel Wellington watches are supplied with a tool that makes swopping and changing straps easy. Like the legendary Daniel Wellington himself these watches have an unabashed ability to go anywhere and always look. It’s a style that perfectly suits the ethos of today’s preppy “look”.
