There belief and inspiration is that great design makes life easier and more enjoyable. The product does not just have to function well but also has to look aesthetically pleasing also.

Formed in 2002 and based in New York by 2 friends Aaron Lown and John Swart who were both studying industrial design at the time at Cranbrook Academy of Art. There first product was designed for a friend who had a wine importing company, a beautifull leather satchel designed to carry wine. This ended up being far too expensive to produce thus they made the same design from the material Neoprene wit which most of there designs are now made of.

The tote went on to sell over 10 million worldwide and went on to win the prestigious gold award in the Industrial design excellence awards. They then introduces there insulated bags for keeping food cold or warm on the go using bright and bold patterns from designers such as French Bull and alexander Girard.

Since then The Built NY range has rapidly expanded in to luggage and cases for electronics including camera cases, laptop cases, nebook cases and phone covers.

They are now in collaboration with apple computers and have brought out bags, covers and sleeves for the iphone 4 ccases, Ipad 2 cases, Macbook pro bag, Macbook Airs and covers and of course the Apple Ipod.
