This week we are proud to announce we are now stockists of S&C one of the worlds leading design houses and manufacturers of TV Stands. Pictured opposite is the Kirra AV Unit which is the perfect combination of solid oak and modern design. The Kirra range also includes a coffee table and sideboard all are excellent value. Also this week we have more wooden living room furniture also by S&C - The Califa range which is very nice and made from Walnut Veneer. Well its Friday the 13th which may be unlucky for some but not us at Design 55 as we have just taken delivery of the new Black French style painted furniture by RV Astleys. Beautifull traditional french furniture with a modern twist hand carved from solid mahogany and is available in black or white. New in 21st May Cadix Outdoor Furniture

The summer is here and with the good weather we are having at the moment we are introducing some new weatherproof outdoor furniture by Cadix. Cadiz is a trend setting supplier of contemporary garden furniture and are at the cutting edge of developement and design. All there furniture is weatherproof and so can be left out all year long because it is made from hi tec materials. Pictured opposite is the corner sofa ideal for relaxing in the garden or if your having guests around and your busy putting the shrimp on the barbie. New in 17th May Effezeta Motivo Chair

During our time in Milan we found this gem of a company, Effezeta the home people of Italy. Effezeta produce designer modern furniture at a sensible price. Pictured opposite is the White Ginestra dining chair which flower print upholstery, the chair is also available. More stunning pieces are the Effezeta Leather Motivo Armchair and Footstool available in a wide choice of colours. Also added to the site this week are sofas, there are some modern and unique ones notably the Effezeta Motivo leather sofa and the Tom Schneider Caress. Its now back to business as usual after a break away in Milan, well it wasnt realy a break I was hunting down the best furniture companys in the world and expect plenty to be added to the site in the next 6 months. This week we are featuring a new company Innermost one of the leading brand in Homewares and Lighting. Innermost have only been going a few years but are already winning plenty of awards such as best new product, and are also getting plenty of praise in the press and glossy magazines. Pictured opposite is the stylish Peony range which comes in a floor lamp, table lamp and ceiling pendant.

New in 20th March Aimbry Lighting

Happy Easter! This week we have the exciting new range of Aimbry Lighting which has just been released and is bound to be flying out the door. Some great floor lamps, table lamps and pendants added to the site. Some styles are completely brand new whilst others are variations on popular classics such as the Capiz pendant pictured opposite and the Hales pendant range.
Over 50 new products in all and there are plenty more to come. Alot of these products are not available anywhere else online as I am the largest stockist of Aimbry on the internet.

New in 10th March Kartell Bourgie Lamps

I am back in action after a short break away and added to the site this week are some more Kartell goodys - The Bourgie Lamp is available in Gold, Chrome, Black or Clear. Designed by Ferruccio Laviani and gives a modern twist to a baroque design, definitly one of the most stylish lamps around, it looks sensational besides Philip Starck's 'Louis Ghost' chair. Unlike most clear lamp shades the light is diffused through its prismatic design, giving a softer level of illumination. It comes with a touch sensitive switch to turn on or off with a dimmer to control the level of light. Further flexibility is given to the height of the shade which is adjustable to three levels with the aid of spacer arms to suit your own personal requirements - please see the image for different height levels.

New in 10th February Kartell Louis Ghost Chair

This week we are proud to announce that we are stockists of the infamous Louis Ghost Chair designed by Philippe Starck. It is available in clear transparent polycarbonate aswell as 5 other transparent colours- Crystal Green, Ice Blue, Smoke Grey, Straw Yellow and Sunset orange. New in 24th January Table Lamps & Lighting

This week so much has been added to the site I dont know where to start. Theres lots of new ranges of table lamps to suit any price budget from the huge Canterbury coloured glass range pictured opposite to the tiny small athena candlestick lamp range. The Canterbury glass range comes in 3 different shapes and 3 different colours- Green, Purple and Smoke Brown.
The Athena lamp range is a traditional style lamp with a contemporary twist which has been popular in our showroom. Also added are lots more modern crystal lamps with duck egg shades. Also new to the site are 3 sizes of Bamboo pendant shades in either Natural or Chocolate.

New in 21st January Art Deco Chandeliers

Its been a hectic week with the Furniture and Lighting trade show in full swing, we have been hunting down some new products for both instore and online so expect to see some new categories and products in the next coming weeks. This week we have the stunning art deco style chandelier available in both clear and black glass as pictured opposite. A very understated and modern light that will be the talking point and centrepiece of any room.

New in 17th January Dining Chairs

This week we are featuring the best value leather dining chairs around. First up is the Gizmo dining chair as pictured shown in white leather but is also available in black leather. The Gizmo is an elegant modern chair with tapered back and thin shiney chrome legs.

Also this week we have the brand new just released ruby chair in walnut veneer with black leather seat pad with swivel base. This one wont be available anywhere elso online just yet as we like to stay ahead of the competition when it comes to new products. New in 11th January Roma Dining Table and Sideboard

This week we have a stunning contemporary dining table the Roma as pictured right with the Petri dining chairs. It features an extendable glass top with a black glass stripe running through the middle with a clear glass boarder edge. The Roma when fully extended can comfortably seat 8-10 people around it. The glass is bolted to two huge beautifull black solid granite legs. Also available to compliment the dining table is the matching Roma sideboard which is also a stunning piece.

New in 8th January Zite Bar Stools

Just one week in to the new year and the new products are arriving instore thick and fast. A new range of stools caleed the zite has just been launched from the best stool makers around Actona. The Zite is available in Black, Silver, Red and White and also the Zite bar table is available to compliment it. A modern stylish stool sure to be a winner at only £65.

Also added are the cross lamp tables originally only available in black or clear glass but also now come in wenge or frosted glass top.

New in 3rd of January 2008 Blaise Bar Stools

Happy New Year to you all. Now that the xmas rush is over the site will be getting back to normality with loads of top furniture getting added to the site on a regular basis. To start the new year we are going to start off with the bestsellers of last year in some brand new colourways. First off the Blaise Bar stool is now available in black or white leather which can be seen in the picture opposite. A quality stool thats as solid as a rock but isnt as heavy as one and at a great price. Also new this week is online favourite the Bonsai TV table now available in Black Ash Veneer sure to be a big hit with all the black plasma tvs that are available.

This week we have what makes Design55 so unique from the other design shops out there. Original artwork at reasonable prices. All our artists are full time professional artists and their work is signed exclusively to us. Lots of nice modern abstract art in trytych canvas and as singles.

Each of our pieces is of genuine gallery quality but made available at prices which make retail a reality. Every piece is crafted using the utmost skill and total dedication to their art.

New in 19th November Kitchen Storage

Added to the site is the ever popular Alessi Gianni storage jars by Mattia Di Rosa add a touch of colourful humour to any kitchen/bathroom/workroom. The glass jar has a vacuum sealed coloured lid from which the irresistable 'little man holding on tight' dangles. Sweet!

Gianni is available in 4 sizes : small, medium, large, and extra large - ideal for spaghetti!. There are also 4 colour options : aqua blue, dark blue, pink and yellow.

Gianni jars are part of the A Di Alessi "Top Design ..Pop Price" range.

As xmas is getting closer we will be expanding our Alessi range so if your stuck what to buy your loved one dont buy them a pair of marigolds get her some Alessi.

New in 9th November Standard Lamps

This week we are focusing on standard lamps with many unique designs added to the site. There is a good choice from ones made from wicker as pictured opposite to ones made from crystal to compliment the table lamps added the previous week.Plus lots more in the next few days.

New in 3rd November Magazine Racks

Xmas deliverys have been arriving to the shop thick and fast all week so expect plenty to be added to the website in the next few days. Today we have some of the best designer magazine racks around all the way from Italy. Pictured opposite is part of the Acrilio range which is not available anywhere else online these are exclusive to Design55. I already have mine in the front room storing last weeks unread Sunday Times. There is also the Grillo range made from perforated aluminium which is very nice. The Bonsai magazine rack to complement the Bonsai coffee table and TV table. Next week the Design 55 staff shall be getting in to the xmas spirit, our famous xmas window display will be going in on Monday and it should be more spectacular than ever before.

New in 1st November Table Lamps

The nights are getting darker so this week its Light Fever. Loads of crystal and ceramic table lamps added to the site with many lines not available anywhere else on the internet. Pictured opposite is the Midnight range a design 55 favourites a truly beautifull lamp. There will be plenty more added in the next couple of days aswell as some floor lamps and a few more exciting bits also.

New in 21st October Pendant Shades

The days are getting shorter so that can only mean one thing its lighting season. This week we have some of the best ceiling shades around with a huge choice I don’t know where to start.
Opposite is a picture of one of design 55 favourites the multi coloured shimmer glass pendants which also comes in black and clear. An absolute stunning piece at a reasonable price.
Also take a look at the capiz shade in pink, black or neutral a shade that we have stocked since we opened nearly 3 years ago and is still going strong a timeless design classic.
In terms of choice and a touch of glamour take a look at the hales pendants available in 2 sizes with a wide range of colours to suit just about any room. New season styles include a shabby chic feel with the flock baroque embossed print shade. The soulk silk 3 tier shade is a traditional shape with a modern twist.

New in 18th October Art

Design 55 online has added another string to its bow with Canvas Art. Instore we have a huge collection of art from prints to originals and here is an online taster from one of our favourites Forever Canvas. We have triptychs and pentychs which are hugely popular and some great photography scenes on canvas of some of the worlds most famous landmarks, from New Yorks Brooklyn Bridge to Sydneys Harbour Bridge.

New in 12th October Noguchi Table

New in this week we have a design classic, the noguchi table in black laquered finish at a stunning price of £150 delivered to your door. Also plenty more occassional tables added like the cross lamp tables in both clear and black glass. Also arrived this week is a new line which we have never had in before is the Foxx Leather lamp table. All the above are at a cracking price point. It is lighting season and in the next few weeks expect to be dazzled by some of the best light fittings in the world.

New in 7th October Bar Stools

This week we are concentrating on Bar Stools. The good news is that the Blaise Bar stool now comes in black, white or red leather aswell as in oak or walnut veneer. Also added is the Andrew bar which looks like the stools you see in a trendy bar. Last but not least is the ultra modern Mathilde Bar Stool in Black Leather.

New products have been added to the store from the biggest name in homewares A DI Alessi. Huge range which includes the CHIN FAMILY, CICO, ALESSANDRO, ANNE G, TIGRITO and my favourite Mr Suicide plus lots more. All these products come gift boxed so would make an ideal xmas present and they are all FREE DELIVERY aswell.

I dont know where to start this week! so much has been added to the site Iv been doing abit of unpaid overtime. Loads of Dining Chairs have been added to go with all the new dining tables put on last week. New in 3rd August French Painted Bedroom Furniture

Its been a very busy week at Design 55 with the new Nolte contemporary bedroom suites situated in store. The attention to detail and materials are to the very highest standards. Unfortunately Nolte bedroom furniture will only be available in store at the present time.

Added to the online store this week is the Versailles French painted bedroom furniture which comes in distressed cream for a classic slightly aged finish. Shabby chic is in all the magazines at the moment and this beautiful furniture is sure to be a best seller for us.

New in 27th July Bean bags

Added to the site this week we have funky bean bags as seen in the Big Brother house. These bean bags are not like your normal bean bags they are moisture proof, which makes it fit for both indoor and outdoor usage. Lets hope the weather picks up a bit because I cant wait to chill on mine in the garden. There are 4 different shapes the T-bag, Do-Nut, Pea-nut and the Sitonit, and a big selection of colours.

Also new to the site this week is the florence and chelsea range of mirrored furniture. Inspired by the designs of the Art Deco period and brought up to date with fine craftsmanship and elegant lines. This range features an eclectic collection of designs and shapes, a must have for anyone looking to keep with the cutting edge of modern design. The contrast of the lightness of the mirror and darkness of the wooden frame is used to great effect with this range giving an effect of space that is created with no other type of furniture.
